Is Vayu Farms makhana fried or roasted?
All Vayu Farms makhana is double-roasted, never fried. We use rice bran oil in small quantities — no palm oil, ever.
What is makhana?
Makhana, also called fox nuts or phool makhana, are the puffed seeds of the Euryale ferox plant, grown mainly in Bihar. They have been part of Indian kitchens for centuries. Ours are roasted and then seasoned.
What oil do you use?
Rice bran oil, in all our makhana and chips. We do not use palm oil.
How many calories are in one pouch of makhana?
A 45g pouch has roughly 190 to 230 kcal depending on flavour: Caramel about 190, Himalayan Salt & Pepper about 194, Truffle about 206, Fresh Mint about 211, Peri Peri about 221 and Cheese & Herbs about 228. These are worked out from the per-100g nutrition table on each product page.
How much protein is in your makhana?
Between 6.8g and 9.6g per 100g depending on flavour, which is about 3 to 4g per 45g pouch. The full nutrition table is on each product page.
Which products contain milk or peanut?
Truffle, Cheese & Herbs and Caramel makhana contain milk. Masala Beetroot Chips contain milk and peanut, and Mixed Vegetable Chips contain peanut. Himalayan Salt & Pepper, Peri Peri and Fresh Mint makhana have no declared allergens. All products are made in a facility that also processes milk and peanut, so please check the pack if you have an allergy.
Are your products gluten-free?
Our makhana range is naturally gluten-free. Please check the ingredient label on individual chip SKUs, as some contain grain-based bases.
Do your products contain preservatives?
No artificial preservatives. Shelf life is maintained through proper roasting and airtight packaging.
Can I eat makhana during a Navratri fast?
Makhana is widely eaten during vrat. Our Himalayan Salt & Pepper flavour is seasoned only with Himalayan pink salt and black pepper. The other flavours contain regular salt, spices, sugar or milk solids, so please follow your family's tradition.
What pack sizes do you sell?
Makhana comes in 45g pouches and chips in 95g pouches. Each is available as a single pack, a pack of 3 or a pack of 6, and you can mix flavours with Build-Your-Box.

How long does delivery take?
Orders are typically dispatched within 24-48 hours and delivered within 4-7 business days depending on your location across India.
Do you ship pan-India?
Yes, we ship across India via our courier partners.
Is shipping free?
Shipping is free on orders above Rs. 499.
Can I pay cash on delivery?
Yes. We accept UPI, cards and cash on delivery.
How can I track my order?

Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?
We pack and dispatch quickly, so we cannot always guarantee changes. Email or WhatsApp us as soon as you can and we will do our best.

Returns & Replacements
What is your return/replacement policy?
If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, contact us at info@vayufarms.com within 48 hours of delivery with photos, and we'll arrange a replacement.
Can I return a product if I change my mind?
Because these are food products, we cannot accept returns for change of mind.
Storage & Shelf Life
How should I store my makhana/chips after opening?
Reseal the pouch tightly after each use and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not refrigerate, as moisture softens the makhana. For best crunch, finish within 2 weeks of opening.
What is the shelf life of Vayu Farms products?
Makhana is best before 9 months from the date of manufacture and chips are best before 12 months. The date is printed on every pack.
